Freedom
The establishment of ghettos marked the end of freedom of movement for Jews.  Write about what freedom means to you in your life and what you think it would mean to lose it.

Freedom to me means being able to do whatever I want with no one to tell me what to or order me around like an animal. I think that's what some Jews felt like - an animal. I would too because it’s true they were treated like animals, the ghettos were in the worst part of city they barely had any food, and when they did it
wasn't even food! The living conditions were bad and didn't have any good clothes. I bet real animals were treated better than Jews. But right now do we really have Freedom? Are we really free? If we were then there wouldn't be anybody telling you what to do like your parents or a teacher or the government... but anyway If we do have “freedom” and I lost it I don’t know what I would do. Maybe I would follow the rules because I would be scared or I would  fight to get it back. Let’s say I would fight to get it back - I would do what the rebels of the Holocaust did. They fought for what they believed in and never lost hope.

  1. I would have been scared too but if I was not I would have fought along side the rebels to fight for my freedom

  2. You make an interesting point. If you look at it one way, we are not theoretically "truly free". We do have to abide by laws, regulations, and obligations. However, when people talk about obtaining "freedom", they want what we have: freedom from oppression, freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of the press, the right to vote, and the right to own your own property. Beyond our constitutional freedoms, we have the right to choose our own jobs, obtain a free public education, travel where we want, and live our lives by the choices we make. That sort of freedom is worth fighting for.

  3. Freedom to me is having the right to say what I want and write what I want. Also I am able to wear anything I want and express the way I feel. If I were to get those rights or freedoms taken away from me I don't know what I would do. Without having the ability to do want you want you will feel like you are trapped in a place that you don't like, It would feel like you were in jail or prison. That is how I think the Jews felt when they were stuck in the ghettos and were unable to move from that place. If the Jews ever though of speaking their mind and talk bad about the Germans they would either get killed or punished.
